Position description: Paediatrics PD

Role/experience to be gained: Ballarat Health Services has a 20-bed Paediatric & Adolescent Unit and a 10-bed Level 4 Special Care Nursery. We also operate a Paediatric Day Medical Unit (embedded within the Paediatric Ward) and non-complex general, orthopaedic and ENT surgical services for children. We have 24-hour on-site staffing from Paediatric Residents and Registrars, as well as 24-hour on call Paediatric consultant staffing provided by nine Paediatric VMO specialists, as well as extensive public and private paediatric outpatient services.

Successful applicants will work on a rotating roster alongside four other Paediatric Advanced trainees, with broad exposure to both inpatient and outpatient paediatric and neonatal medicine.

Role/experience to be gained:

  • High Quality comprehensive care to neo nates and paediatric inpatients
  • Providing appropriate advice to GPs, doctors in ED and other allied Health professionals
  • Ward cover support and supervision of residents and medical students in the paediatric ward
  • Actively involved in Education and Training
  • Conduct clinic in specialist clinic 2 x session per week
  • Conduct outreach clinic to rural health services, ie Ouyen, Robinvale etc

ACRRM Advanced Specialised Training - Paediatrics

Position description: Paediatrics PD

Role/experience to be gained: Trainees undertaking advanced specialised training in paediatrics will work within a multidisciplinary team structure to develop skills to diagnose and manage a wide range of paediatric conditions. At completion of training, trainees will have the skills, knowledge and confidence to deal with the acute and non-acute childhood and adolescent presentations, as well as parental concerns.
