All program participants must demonstrate rural career intentions and be enrolled in (or intending to enrol) with ACRRM or RACGP FARGP-RG training or have current registration as a General Practitioner.

Candidates entering the VRGP in RG1 (Intern) year may be offered the option of a multi-year training agreement that outlines the Rural Generalist training pathway in the region. During RG1 or RG2 trainees will need to apply to an accredited Rural Generalist training program with ACRRM or RACGP.

There are also opportunities to enter the program laterally into RG2 or Rural Generalist Advanced positions.
